Modelling induction heating process of forging billets for automotive crankshafts

At Transvalor Tech Day Spain held on October 18th in Bilbao, TECNALIA presented the induction heating simulation model applied to the CIE Galfor crankshaft forging process that it is developing as part of the DENIM project (Digital intelligence for collaborative Energy management in Manufacturing). In this project, TECNALIA is generating models based on real and simulation data to predict and optimize the energy consumption of the entire crankshaft manufacturing chain for the automotive sector. The model created by TECNALIA with the FORGE software makes it possible to obtain the temperature profile of the forging billets during heating in the induction furnace, providing information on the heating speed of the billets and the influence of the electrical parameters of the furnace on their thermal distribution.
