Digitalization in the Steel Sector

TECNALIA presented the DENiM project at a Workshop organized by PLATEA (Spanish Steel Technological Platform) on 19th May in Madrid. After a brief presentation of the project, the focus was on the developments to predict and reduce the energy consumption in the Steel Pilot Case at SIDENOR facilities. The different models of the Electric Arc Furnace and Secondary Metallurgy were shown and the planned Decision Support System for these processes were described.

Modelling induction heating process of forging billets for automotive crankshafts

At Transvalor Tech Day Spain held on October 18th in Bilbao, TECNALIA presented the induction heating simulation model applied to the CIE Galfor crankshaft forging process that it is developing as part of the DENIM project (Digital intelligence for collaborative Energy management in Manufacturing). In this project, TECNALIA is generating models based on real and simulation data to predict and optimize the energy consumption of the entire crankshaft manufacturing chain for the automotive sector. The model created by TECNALIA with the FORGE software makes it possible to obtain the temperature profile of the forging billets during heating in the induction furnace, providing information on the heating…
