General Assembly | Cork (IE)

The second General Assembly was held in Cork, Ireland, on 29 and 30 November at the Nimbus Research Centre headquarters.During these days, the project partners gathered to align with the needs of our industrial demonstrators, to assess the current status and to discuss the development of DENiM solutions.During the first day of the meeting, DePuy Synthes organised a tour of the production site, an important moment to experience the company and its dynamics first-hand.In the coming months, the DENiM digital intelligence solution will be implemented in pilot industrial projects: DePuy Synthes, Sidenor, CIE GALFOR, MET and Gorenje Orodjarna. Modelling induction heating process of forging billets for automotive crankshafts

At Transvalor Tech Day Spain held on October 18th in Bilbao, TECNALIA presented the induction heating simulation model applied to the CIE Galfor crankshaft forging process that it is developing as part of the DENIM project (Digital intelligence for collaborative Energy management in Manufacturing). In this project, TECNALIA is generating models based on real and simulation data to predict and optimize the energy consumption of the entire crankshaft manufacturing chain for the automotive sector. The model created by TECNALIA with the FORGE software makes it possible to obtain the temperature profile of the forging billets during heating in the induction furnace, providing information on the heating…

Presentation at WCEAM 2022 – the 16th world congress on Engineering Asset Management

After 2 years of online events, the 16th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM) was held on 5-7 October 2022 in Seville, Spain. At the congress, VTT presented the framework for life-cycle cost and environmental impact indicators developed in the DENiM project and used the opportunity to inform the industry and research community about the LCC (Life Cycle Costing) and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) research in DENiM.  The conference paper focused on smart energy efficiency improvements in the manufacturing processes and examined the cost and environmental indicators from several angles at the process and machine levels. In addition to the conference proceedings, the…

DENiM Requirements & Architectural Approach report sent to External Expert Advisory Board (EEAB)

A key aspect of the DENiM project is engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure the project is on the right trajectory from a scientific, industrial and impact perspective. To support this, the project has invited a number of external experts from various background (e.g. Industry4.0, digital technologies, energy management, policy and standardisation) to engage and provide guidance on the project activities. The initial engagement with the DENiM EEAB has been very positive and fruitful for the project. They have helped re-enforce the DENiM concept and inform the requirements and architectural specification of the DENiM digital intelligence platform. The project have…

Holistic Modeling for Continuous Performance Assessment

Holistic Modeling for Continuous Performance Assessment started in April 2021 and continues up to year 2024. This work provides energy-centric modeling-related information, capabilities, and tools for the implementation needs of the DENiM platform. So far, the main progress has been made in the detailed planning of tasks and in gathering all relevant information and data from the modelling point of view. During the first year of the project, both the development of data quality service and energy modelling principles have been in progress. Integration of the quality component into the DENiM interoperability manager has been completed and demonstrated. In addition, the…
